Ripple (XRP), is Bitcoin like digital currency that doesn’t require a blockchain or mining. In order to get started with Ripple, you will first need to open a Ripple wallet. Once you have an account, the next step is to activate it. Activation part is little tricky, you need to make an initial deposit / lend of 300 XRP from other ripplers. In case you failed to manage someone to send you 300 XRP, official giveaway is your only hope. At the time of writing, Opencoin is giving away free ripples to Bitcointalk members, whose account was created before February 19, 2013.
